Endobronchial mass lesion due to sarcoidosis: complete resolution with corticosteroids.

چکیده
Sarcoidosis is a granulomatous disorder of unknown aetiology affecting many systems, including the lungs and mediastinal lymph nodes. The usual manifestations of sarcoidosis on the chest radiograph are well known. Although the bronchial mucosa is often affected in sarcoidosis, endobronchial mass lesions are extremely rare.' Endobronchial lesions are most often due to bronchogenic carcinoma and less often to relatively benign causes such as bronchial adenoma, lipoma, broncholith, and tuberculosis.26 We report the first case of a distinct endobronchial mass lesion due to sarcoidosis that resolved with corticosteroid treatment.

Multiple endobronchial mass lesions due to sarcoidosis.
Sarcoidosis is a systemic granulomatous disease that primarily affects the lung and lymphatic systems of the body. The lungs are affected in over 90% of sarcoid patients. Although paranchymal lung disease is more common, the airways may also be involved. Bronchial mucosa is often affected in sarcoidosis, but endobronchial mass lesions are very rare. We present a case with multiple endobronchial...
متن کاملExtensive Systemic Sarcoidosis with Testicular Involvement Mimicking Metastatic Testicular Cancer
Sarcoidosis is an idiopathic, multisystem disease that rarely involves the genitourinary tract. Here we present an unusual case of testicular sarcoidosis with extensive lymphadenopathy that mimicked a metastatic testicular tumor. A 27-year-old male presented with a palpable right testicular mass accompanied by multiple palpable inguinal lymph nodes. The scrotal ultrasound showed a hypoechoic le...
متن کاملSarcoidosis presenting with hypercalcaemia following withdrawal of long-term immunosuppression in renal transplantation
Long-term immunosuppression, including corticosteroids, is a hallmark of renal transplantation. We describe a patient who had a failed transplant after 15 years, subsequent graft nephrectomy and withdrawal of his immunosuppression therapy including prednisolone. Within months of complete cessation of prednisolone, he developed hypercalcaemia and subsequent systemic symptoms including ocular, re...
متن کاملAssociation of carcinoid tumor and sarcoidosis.
The association of systemic sarcoidosis with malignant neoplasms has been reported by several publications although there is controversy as to whether sarcoidosis predisposes patients to certain types of tumors or whether it is the tumors that cause a sarcoid reaction. The relationship between endobronchial carcinoid tumor and sarcoidosis is uncommon. We report the case of a 43-year-old male wh...
متن کاملEmergency Radiotherapy for Spinal Cord Compression due to Bone Sarcoidosis
Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory granulomatous disease that is systemic, but bone involvement is uncommon. A 68-year-old man was referred to our hospital complaining of right shoulder pain with numbness. Computed tomography revealed systemic lymphadenopathy and multiple bone lesions. Because malignant lymphoma with a mass lesion protruding into the vertebral canal was considered, he underwent urg...
